Schumann: Fantasiestück

Dimitri
Shostakovich: Piano Quintet op. 57
The Paramount Chamber Players
is Tri-cities’ premier chamber music
ensemble presenting chamber music for the
Mountain Empire. This concert, Great
Standard Masterworks, features
repertoire for piano and strings. You will
hear the power and majesty of Beethoven’s
Piano Trio op. 70, no. 2 juxtaposed against
the wit and whimsy of Schumann’s Fantasy
Pieces for piano trio. Adding a second
violin and viola to the piano trio, the
ensemble will present the astounding
Shostakovich Piano Quintet, a musical
comment on the power of the artist to
overcome tyranny and repression. Appearing
in this performance: Cherylonda Fitzgerald,
cello; George Figueroa, violin; Kimberly
Ziegler Ray, violin; Luis Casal, viola; and
Craig W. Combs, piano.
WORDS AND
WORLDS OF MUSIC

Moyse, French composer and mentor of our own
flutist, Rebecca Paluzzi, celebrating the
composer’s centennial. The second half of
the concert, we present the brilliant and
romantic first piano trio by Robert Schumann
whose composition presents many worlds of
sound within each movement.

Figueroa, violin; Luis Casal, violin &
